Molecular Sieves: These are synthetic desiccants that can absorb moisture at a very precise rate and are sometimes used for more sensitive items.
Why Desiccants Are Important for Glucose Test Strips
Preserving Accuracy: If glucose test strips are exposed to moisture, the chemicals that react with the blood sample can be altered, resulting in inaccurate test results. The desiccant helps prevent this by maintaining the strips' chemical integrity.

Typically, the desiccant packet is placed inside the tube with the test strips, either at the top or nestled among the strips themselves. It’s important not to remove or discard the desiccant, as it plays a vital role in maintaining the effectiveness of the strips.
The presence of a desiccant packet is particularly important if you live in a humid environment, as it adds an extra layer of protection. However, even in dry conditions, it’s a good idea to store test strips in a cool, dry place and keep the tube tightly closed to minimize moisture exposure.
